The Owls of Pallas know Pallas region like the back of their hands.
They put that knowledge to use by organising freeride tours with various equipment in the best snow areas, heading out on cross-country tours outside the marked tracks – always with consideration for the weather.
During these private tours the Owls will guide you to the secrets and stunning landscapes of Pallas fell.

PALLAS TOP TOUR (OFF-PISTE)

Pallas topptur - to the highest peak in the region

Pallas offers a great variety of backcountry skiing spots in the heart of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. It is very unique to start a journey above timberline and stay there for the whole trip. Our aim is to reach the highest peak in the region, a fell called Taivaskero. That being said, we take weather conditions very seriously and we make the final plan just before departure and therefore the destination might change. It is expected that participants have good skills in downhill skiing and they are in good physical conditions. We take few ski lifts, but we might hike around 400 - 500 vertical meters. You don't need to have prior experience in backcountry skiing. Groups of different skill levels will be formed at the starting position.

  • We do not provide insurance and participants are responsible for their own cover

  • Any medical condition that might affect the ability to operate in the fells, should be shared with the guides at the meeting point

  • If you plan having your own equipment, you should have skis and bindings with rando mode, skins and poles for climbing. If you use snowboard, we expect you to have either splitboard or snowshoes with you.

PALLAS FELL SKIING (SKI TOURING)

One of the greatest areas for fell skiing in the Nordics is definitely Pallas Fell area. People tend to take fell skiing trips of several nights in the National Park. Today we take a skiing trip of 2-3 hours to the fells. While skiing we go to see at least one spring (it is told that the open water is a gate of man-like creatures that live in subterranean dwellings), all sides of Arctic mountains, hopefully sun that sets beautifully to horizon) and large fields of wind blown snow. It is expected that participants have good physical condition and expertise in cross-country skiing. In most cases it is rather windy up in the fells, and therefore we encourage you to pack several layers to your backpack and wear windproof top layers. Please take two pairs of gloves and beanies with you.
